The pinnate leaves are rich green and grow to about 60 cm in length and sit above the cane-like stems giving it a very unusual tufted appearance.
Orange to red flowers are produced in spring and are followed by black berries, however flowering usually only occurs on younger specimens.
Its an excellent indoor plant for almost any situation, (even those dark corners where nothing else will grow) requiring only minimal care and moderate light.
It can also be grown outdoors and is an excellent tropical effect plant.
